Supporting Young Asylum Seekers and Refugees in South London
A Trauma-Informed Service Handbook
Young asylum seekers and refugees (YASR) in South London face compounding challenges, such as social isolation, legal precarity, housing instability, and limited access to health and welfare services. This project partnered with the Dost Youth Project, a grassroots organisation providing trauma-informed support to YASR, to co-produce a practical service handbook for frontline providers. Drawing on academic research, DYP’s lived practice expertise, and a multi-sector stakeholder roundtable, the handbook was developed, reviewed, and publicly launched at SOAS in March 2026. It is freely available via DYP’s website and aimed at practitioners across the youth, legal, housing, education, and health sectors.
